An article in the NY Times today indicates that EMI may be considering the release of parts of their music library without any DRM or copy-proection.

Interesting that one of the reasons sited is the issue behind compatibility across the market's many music players...

I dont really understand what the fuss is all about, with the takedown of sites like Napster and Kazaa, increasing scrutinty on BitTorrent, and rise of iTunes and the like, there are far fewer sites for people to just blatantly "rip off" the music companies....
